20 Nov Green light for Erasmus+
On 19th November, the European Parliament approved Erasmus+, the new programme for education, training, youth and sport for the programming period 2014-2020.
It will have a budget of 14.7 billion Euro (40% higher than in the current programming period) and will support initiatives to study, train, work or volunteer abroad for over 4 million people.
Students planning a full Master’s degree abroad will benefit from a new loan guarantee scheme run by the European Investment Fund.
Erasmus+ will include initiatives for education and training staff, and youth workers.
The programme will also finance partnerships between universities, colleges, schools, enterprises, and not-for-profit organisations.
Two-thirds of the budget will be allocated to learning opportunities abroad for individuals, within the EU and beyond; the remainder will support partnerships between educational institutions, youth organisations, businesses, local and regional authorities and NGOs, as well as reforms to modernise education and training and to promote innovation, entrepreneurship and employability.
