29 Mar Technology and tourism accessibility in mountain areas: the project GATE by the UNESCO Dolomites Foundation
Innsbruck with its recently renovated in terms of accessibility ski resort of the Patscherkofel, hosted at the end of February the meeting between the institutions that are implementing inclusive tourism initiatives in the Alps. The initiative took place within the project “GATE – Granting Accessible Tourism for Everyone”. This project, funded by Interreg V-A Italy-Austria, implements initiatives aimed at improving mountains accessibility for people with motor and sensory disabilities. Starter is collaborating with the UNESCO Dolomiti Foundation, coordinator of the project, to advance use of some special sites of the Alpine area also through the use of advanced technological devices: the Rossi Park in Santorso (VI), the Geopark Bletterbach in Aldino and Redagno (BZ), the Salzburg region, the Alpago (BL), where the CAI is further extending the area of interest of the existing App “Talking Tracks”. Soon, the study carried out by the University of Innsbruck on good practices of inclusive mountain tourism will be available.
