Starter at the World bank to present the first results of the pilot project on the introduction of biochar and improved clean cook stove ELSA

Tuesday February 19 Lucia Brusegan, Laura Bano and David Bluhm are invited in Washington by #TheWorldBank and #ESMAP to give a presentation on first achievements of the pilot project to introduce #biochar and #improvedcleancookstove ELSA in #Burundi. Starter experts will offer details and data gathered with the activities performed in Bujumbura Rural, where local communities tested biochar application to soil and observed a substantial improvement on beans production due to biochar application. They have also test used the improved pyrolytic clean cooking stove ELSA, locally produced, observing a substantial reduction in smoke emission in their kitchens with a subsequent reduction in indoor air pollution breathe by women during their cooking. Starter will introduce also the results of the study on waste biomass availability as alternative fuel for cooking to wood energy. Thanks to The World Bank and ESMAP, and to the cooperation with #CornellUniversity (Ithaca, USA), the #UniversityofUdine (Italy) and #Parmaalimenta (Italy and Burundi).
