22 Oct ADRION COOPERATION PROGRAMME IS ADOPTED
On 20th October, the Eruopean Commission adopted the new transnational cooperation programme “Interreg V B Adriatic-Ionian” (ADRION).
The programme has a budget of 83.4 million euro from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and almost 16 million euro from the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA II). It will contribute to the implementation of the priorities of the European Union Strategy for the Adriatic-Ionian Region (EUSAIR), by promoting economic, social and territorial cohesion in the interested area.
The programme area coincides with the one of EUSAIR and includes: Italy, Greece, Croatia, Slovenia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia.
The programme will particularly concentrate on increasing the region’s capacity of:
– innovation and research
– preservation of the natural heritage in the region
Additionally, the transport system will be improved through increased integration.
