14 Jan Activities for the new Adriatic-Ionian region go on
The activities for the establishment of the new Adriatic-Ionian Region (EUSAIR) go on as planned. The Region conserns 8 countries (Croatia, Greece, Italy, Slovenia,
Albania, Bosnia e Erzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia) and is aimed to areas of regional mutual interest structured around four pillars:
- Driving innovative maritime and marine growth
- Connecting the region
- Preserving, protecting, improving the quality of the environment
- Increasing regional attractiveness
The Directorate General for Regional and Urban Policy has launched a public consultation on the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian region, inviting all those
interested, e.g. private individuals, public organisations, enterprises, civil society, etc. to send their contributions. The deadline for sending contributes has been
postponed to 17 January 2014. Clik here for submit your contribute.
The findings of an extensive stakeholder consultation will be presented during the Conference on EUSAIR that will be held in Athens (Greece) on 6 and 7 February 2014,
jointly organised by the European Commission and the Hellenic Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Clik here for registrate to the Conference.
The European Council invited the EC to prepare the EUSAIR strategy within the end of 2014. Once ready the Strategy will join the2 existing ones: EU Strategy for the
Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) and the EU Strategy for Danubian Region (EUSDR).
